Ageladine A: an antiangiogenic matrixmetalloproteinase inhibitor from the marine sponge Agelas nakamurai

A novel MMP inhibitor, ageladine A (1) with antiangiogenic activity was isolated from a marine sponge Agelas nakamurai. Structure 1 was determined by a combination of spectroscopic and chemical methods to be an unprecedented structure of 4-(4,5-dibromo-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)]-1H-imidazo[4,5-c]pyridin-2-amine.     

Novel bromotyrosine derivatives that inhibit growth of the fish pathogenic bacterium Aeromonas hydrophila, from a marine sponge Hexadella sp

Three new bromotyrosine derivatives, 11-N-methylmoloka'iamine (1), 11-N-cyano-11-N-methylmoloka'iamine (2), and kuchinoenamine (3), were isolated as antibacterial constituents from a marine sponge Hexadella sp. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral and chemical methods. They exhibited moderate antibacterial activity against the fish pathogenic bacterium Aeromonas hydrophila.     

Synthesis of new dihydropyrazines with DNA strand-breakage activity

Treatment of 1,2-cyclohexanedione with 1,2-diamines, e.g. ethylenediamine and cis-(and trans-)1,2-diaminocyclohexane, caused [4+2] cyclocondensation to give the corresponding dihydropyrazine derivatives (compounds 1-6). They exhibited stronger DNA strand-breakage activity than that of dihydropyrazines, which has already been reported in previous papers.     

Intramolecular tandem Michael-type addition/aldol cyclization induced by TiCl(4)-R(4)NX combinations

[reaction: see text] Treatment of formyl alpha,beta-enones with a TiCl(4)-R(4)NX combination induces an intramolecular aldol cyclization to furnish 2-acyl-3-halocyclohexanol with three controlled consecutive stereogenic centers. The reaction of bis-alpha,beta-enones with the combination provides cyclic diketones with high stereoselectivity via an intramolecular Michael addition reaction.     

Simultaneous determination of P,Cl, K and Ca in several control serums by alpha-particle activation analysis using the internal standard method

In order to demonstrate the usefulness of alpha-particle activation analysis, simultaneous determination of P, Cl, K and Ca in commercially available control serums has been studied fundamentally. After thick target yield curves of radionuclides produced from the element to be determined were measured as a function of alpha energy together with those of the interferences, an optimum working standard for the present experiments was provided by applying the internal standard method to a human serum under the most suitable bombardment conditions. Then, the concentrations of the above four elements in several control serums were determined efficiently and reasonably by ordinary alpha-particle activation analysis.     

New approaches inμ + SR studies on critical phenomena in Ni

The critical phenomena in Ni are probed by pulsedSR method under longitudinal- and zero external magnetic fields. The sample magnetization around the critical temperature is confirmed simultaneously by bulk magnetization measurement in situ, disappearance of transverseSR signal and recovery of asymmetry under longitudinal field. At the same time, the ratio of the ⁺ hyperfine field to the bulk magnetization in the ferromagnetic phase below the critical temperature is determined from the observables obtained only in the present experiment. The zero- and low-field longitudinal relaxation rate of muon does not diverge in approaching toT _c in the paramagnetic region, but seems to reach a saturation value.This work is supported by the Grand-in-Aid of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.     

Acylation of heteroaromatic amines . Perbenzoylation of diaminopyridazines

Some diaminopyridazines such as 4,7-diaminoimidazo[4,5-d]pyridazine, 1-methyl-4,7-diaminoimidazo[4,5-d]pyridazine, 5,8-diaminopyrazino[2,3-d]pyridazine, 2,3-dimethyl-5,8-diaminopyrazino[2,3-d]pyridazine and 1,4-diaminophthalazine, all of which were prepared by the reaction of hydrazine with the respective vic-dicyanide as starting material, were reacted with benzoyl chloride in the presence of triethylamine, giving novel perbenzoylated derivatives in good yield. A dibenzoylation mechanism of the amino group has been proposed.
